Diablo Sport Fishing

About Us

Our new owner, Illar Tenno is from Canada. The previous owner, Craig still fishes with us!

Sometimes you fish for pleasure and sometimes, it’s the way you put food on the table. Native Costa Rican, Javier Guzman grew up combining the two. From an early age he learned the techniques and gained the insights only a local can possess. Along the way, he realized how much he loved everything about fishing.

Plan Your Perfect Trip With Us

If you’ve ever dreamed of taking a tropical fishing excursion, discover the south coast of Costa Rica. We provide trips year round!

Full day offshore trip

The world famous Furuno banks are just an hour and fifteen minute drive out. Mahi, Tuna, Wahoo and 4 species of marlin are among the possible catch, but the area is especially known for big Pacific Sailfish which can run up to 175 pounds.

6 Hour Offshore trip

Work the current lines for Mahi and Yellowfin Tuna or a little further out for Pacific Sailfish.

Half day close offshore

Only an option in November/December when the debris lines are close and Mahi and small Yellowfin Tuna can be found everywhere. My favorite time of year to fish!

Full Day Or Half Day Inshore trip

We are fishing as soon as we leave anchor, often boating our first fish five minutes in. Options to fish river mouths, rocks and currents for Snapper, Jack Crevalle, Barracuda, Sierra Mackerel, Needlefish and Roosterfish allow more time for fishing.

What To Expect

Expect a Crew that enjoys their work and loves nothing more than putting you on fish, no matter if you are an experienced fisherman or new to the sport. We especially enjoy the enthusiasm that young fishermen bring aboard.

Come prepared for a tropical sun.

Yes. Price is for the boat for 1-5 fisherman. We do not combine groups.

We get more suoerstitious when the fish aren’t biting…

What Our Clients Say

"

Can’t say enough good things about Craig, Javier, and the crew and what an experience I had fishing with them. Caught several Mackerel, Black Tuna, and Bonitas. Very easy going and put you at ease – they do all the work while I had all the fun! Count me in as a future repeat customer.

"

My husband, myself, and my two kids (8 and 10) booked a half day nearshore trip with Craig and Captain Javier. I chose DIablo Sportfishing because we were renting a villa in Dominical and this charter departed from Dominicalito beach which was much more convenient than driving to Quepos where most of the other charters I found departed from. Overall, we had an amazing trip and caught tons of Spanish mackerel ( 15lbs+), Black tuna, Needlefish, and the highlight was a Yellowfin tuna! The boat was comfortable, and it was obvious that Craig and captain Javier have extensive knowledge of this area. They put us on fish right away, and we kept pulling in fish the entire trip! My son reeled in the Yellowfin which was icing on the cake given it was his 10th birthday:) Without hesitation, we will book another charter with Craig and Captain Javier when we return!

"

We were a family of 4 looking to catch a few fish. The water taxi picked us up and safely delivered us to the boat. We tried multiple spots. At our 1st spot we caught 2 Spanish mackerels, at the 2nd spot we landed a mahi mahi and at our 3rd spot we pulled in 15-20 black fin tuna while being entertained by a LARGE pod of spinner dolphins. It was an unbelievable experience!!!! Thanks Javier!!!!!

"

We went out with Craig and Javier and had a great time. They have clearly spent a lot of time on the water and know how to find fish. Landed a 60″+ Dorado and it was the experience of a lifetime. I would fish with Diablo again in a heartbeat.

"

We went out with Craig and Javiar on a half day trip and had a great time. 3 nice Mahi and a Yellow tail Tuna. Our friends had a time of their life. It was their time deep sea fishing. Nothing better than eating some fresh tuna on the boat. Highly recommend day on boat with them. Already planning on return trip next year.
